Next week at Tender Years, we’re coming together to raise awareness, build community, and support breast cancer patients—right here in Central PA. Through a full week of fun Spirit Days and our special Pink Out event, we’re rallying around a cause that touches nearly everyone in some way.
Spirit Week: October 13–17, 2025
Here’s how you can join the fun all week long:
- Monday: Power in PJs – (Staff only, as we are closed for an in-service day.)
- Tuesday: Twins for the Win – Match with a friend to show that we are stronger together!
- Wednesday: Pink Out! – For every person wearing pink, we’ll donate $1 to Pink Hands of Hope in Mechanicsburg!
- Thursday: Hairs to Hope – Let your hair—or your outfit—go wild and wacky!
- Friday: The Future Is Bright – Wear your best neons & brights to shine a light on awareness!
Your enthusiasm makes the difference. Each day is about more than just dressing up—it’s about showing support, motivating others, and shining together.
The Pink Out: Wednesday, October 15
On Wednesday, October 15, Tender Years is going PINK to help local breast cancer patients, and we need YOUR help!
It’s easy—just wear something pink and stop in to any one of our centers. For each and every person who visits our locations in pink, Tender Years will donate $1.00 to Pink Hands of Hope. This includes parents, students, and staff.
About Pink Hands of Hope
Based in Mechanicsburg, PA, Pink Hands of Hope is a local 501(c)(3) nonprofit that assists breast cancer patients in countless ways. They provide wigs, caps, clothing, shawls, knitted knockers, and other items at no cost. They also help families through programs like Gifts of Hope, which provides support during the holidays.
From restoring dignity to providing comfort and hope, Pink Hands of Hope has touched hundreds of lives throughout Central PA. That’s why we’re proud to support them.
Why It Matters
According to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, 1 in 8 women will receive a breast cancer diagnosis in her lifetime. And the impact doesn’t stop there—families, friends, and coworkers all feel the ripple effect.
Even here at Tender Years, breast cancer has touched us personally. Our Founder, Betty Krebs, shared her own story:
“I went for my routine mammogram in October 2013 and was told I had breast cancer. The diagnosis was a complete shock, as I felt fine. Even looking back, there was no indication that I was sick, but I was lucky because the cancer was caught early. I had surgery that November, and I am cancer-free today. My prognosis could have been much worse had I skipped that mammogram. Early detection is key to a successful outcome and I encourage all women to have their annual mammogram.”
Her words remind us of the importance of both awareness and action.
